2016 Mustang Performance Mods

The 6th generation Mustang may have hit the streets in 2015, but there are already plenty of ways to get more performance from your late model pony car, even if you just picked up your new Mustang from the dealer.

Forced Induction

It will be a while before we learn how to modify the Coyote's internal components to get major power gains, but there's still plenty of ways to add power outside the motor. There are already several superchargers and turbochargers available to fit the stock V8, providing up to 12 psi of boost with the right setup.

Have an Ecoboost? The turbo has potential straight from the factory. Start with an ECU tune, add a stronger blow off valve to handle higher boost pressures, and then keep the charged air cool with a bigger intercooler. Not enough? We already have kits to replace the stock turbo with a higher pressure, faster spooling unit. Even if you aren't looking for big power, a little remapping can give your car better performance, even on regular gasoline.

Stronger Axles

An independent rear suspension was finally made standard across the Mustang lineup, giving these cars modern road holding and comfort straight from the factory. While the Cobra Jet drag racer comes with a solid axle for strength, that doesn't mean high power is out of the question for other models. Heavy duty friction discs and beefed up CV axles can turn the 8.8 Traction-Lok rear end into a serious performer.

Faster Shifting

Have a manual? A short throw kit and a stiffer transmission mount bushing can make shifting faster and feel more positive for greater accuracy.

Better Exhaust

There are plenty of cat-back systems available for new Mustangs, and complete systems with better flowing exhaust manifolds are just starting to reach the market for the V8. Roush even has an active exhaust valve that works with their systems to keep the car quiet on the street, open for top performance on the track, and somewhere in between to balance noise and power on the road.

Better Intake

Any engine can benefit from more air, and a cold air intake delivers. It's not just about colder, denser air: replacement intakes can be less restrictive and use higher flowing filters. Not sure about moving around the mass air flow sensor for your new intake? We have a harness extension to make sure your MAF stays connected with any aftermarket CAI.
