Description
A classic piece that has been re-introduced from Anderson Ford Motorsport. Following a design from Holcomb Motorsports from back in the day Anderson Ford Motorsport has updated and re-introduced the heavy duty Vortech supercharger brace bracket. This piece is ideal for 86-93 Mustang owners with Vortech superchargers and running the standard bracket system and do not want to change out the brackets for the HD Renegade dual bracket system running high boost (15 psi or more). The way this HD Brace Bracket works is by anchoring itself to both the supercharger bracket assembly and the header bolts on the number 2 cylinder. This creates another point of bracing to stop bracket and head unit deflection or bending under high rpm/high boost scenarios. Most common issues people may see are supercharger belts being thrown from the system or being torn after some high rpm/high boost runs.
Some advantages for running the AFM HD Brace Bracket are:
- No need to pay for dual renegade bracket setups if you are wanting to have a high boost combination
- No worries about throwing or tearing up your supercharger belt for high boost applications
- Fits all 86-93 Mustang 5.0 standard bracket systems (non HD)
- Fits all 8.2 deck engines using 1-5/8" primary headers
- Fits with running AFM Power Pipe®
- Reuses all the original hardware
This HD Brace Bracket is not for everybody. If you are running the standard Vortech systems with 10-12 lbs of boost with no plans to add more this bracket would not be necessary. If you have a renegade dual plate system already then this will not work without plate modification. Installation is tedious on purpose. This piece was engineered to fit one way only and be extremely tight on both the front plate and header primary. That is exactly how the bracket was built. Getting the bracket into place to start threading in the header and front plate hardware will be the toughest part of the installation. Once the hardware is started on all four points of contact then the rest is a breeze. It may not seem like it wants to bolt on but it will. You will want to review the instructions thuroughtly for the tips on getting it on. Give yourself plenty of time for the installation.
